First Light Taveuni defends Wairiki 7s title

First Light Taveuni has successfully defended the 2019 Fiji Bitter Wairiki Parish 7s title after beating Raiwasa 19-12 in the final.

It was a hard fought final, with Raiwasa crossing the try line first in the first half to lead 5- 0 at the breather.

In the second half, First Light team showed they were not to be messed with scoring three tries, one after another.

Only two tries were successfully converted taking First Light Taveuni’s points to 19.

Raiwasa scored another try in the last minute of the match but luck was not on their side as the final hooter went off.

First Light Coach Vilikesa Ratu says as defending champions, they were targeting the win and they have achieved it.

The win now means First Light automatically qualifies for the Fiji Coral Coast 7s in Sigatoka next year.

Ratu says this is a bonus for the team.

Along with the Cup Runners up Raiwasa, First Light will automatically qualify for the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s next year.

As runners up, Raiwasa qualifies for the 2020Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s.

This is the 4th time First Light has won the Fiji Bitter Wairiki Parish 7s tournament.
